Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community

MAKE A DONATION TODAY

In 2008 Yampa Valley Medical Center set out to determine if a senior living community is needed in the Yampa Valley. As a result, Casey’s Pond was built and opened in October 2013 to serve older adults and their families. Residents from the Doak Walker Care Center previously located at the Medical Center moved to the community forming the Doak Walker House skilled nursing neighborhood. Today, Casey’s Pond Senior Living offers a variety of living environments including, independent living, assisted living, respite care, and long-term and short-term skilled nursing. Casey’s Pond is the only Continuing Care community in the Yampa Valley and mountain region. Our mission is to be a thriving community that enriches the quality of life.

The “Casey’s Way” empowers residents to live their lives on their terms, directing their own services and care, contributing to the fabric of our community, and continuing to grow and experience all life has to offer at every level of living.

This past year, Casey’s Pond took the innovative step to integrate those needing memory support into our skilled nursing setting in the Doak Walker House. The increased benefits for those living with cognitive and physical challenges include a higher quality of living in a more social setting and a more person-centered and inclusive approach to support and care.

How Your Donation Dollars Will Be Used

To help complete this transition, we are working to update and revitalize our outside courtyard in the Doak; however, at the moment, it is not fully accessible. The courtyard project helps complete our recent move to a more innovative, inclusive, and honoring approach to providing memory and skilled nursing support. The integrated neighborhood provides more social interaction and opportunities to contribute to daily life; expanding the possibilities for older adults. The courtyard needs to reflect our innovative approach better. As you can see in these photos, the paved path needs to be expanded so more of the courtyard can be accessible to all residents.

Our plan would increase the security and lighting for night and day enjoyment. We would like to include a fountain, benches, more planter boxes, and improved plant varieties so it is truly a delight for the senses and a place where families can connect with their loved ones. The total project cost is $54,000. We have partial funding in place thanks to a generous donor. Would you kindly join them in providing an enriching outdoor space for Yampa Valleys’ older adults who have already given so much to our community?
