Healthy Aging at Casey’s Pond in Steamboat Springs

When one thinks of the town of Steamboat Springs, many images come to mind. As a small mountain town, it truly does have a lot to offer, as a close-knit community with something to do for everyone. The town offers beautiful views full of opportunities to break a sweat, a rich culture and history, and local events that bring the larger community together.

At Casey’s Pond, an active adult community in Steamboat Springs, we believe in a philosophy of healthy aging, which incorporates what we call the five pillars of wellness: Social, Intellectual, Purpose, Passion and Spiritual. Taking a holistic approach, we encourage any desire residents may have to lead a happy, fulfilled life. Here are the many ways residents exhibit a lifestyle of healthy aging here in the mountain town of Steamboat Springs.

Skiing at Steamboat Resort

Steamboat Springs Resort is rated one of the top ski destinations with its average 250 inches of snow per year. Residents at Casey’s Pond are fortunate to have the ski resort literally within walking distance. If you don’t feel like walking, there are frequent busses that can take you to the lifts as well. Should you need to rent ski and snowboard equipment, rental shops are available around town. This is probably the most popular attraction in Steamboat Springs, and one that will give you an insider view of what it feels like to be a local.

Cycling in Steamboat Springs

With over 50 miles of trails ranging from beginner to expert, Steamboat Springs has been named one of the top places in the U.S. for cycling. A few famous trails that are easy on the eyes and the legs include: River Road Loops and Catamount. These gentle rides will surely be scenic as they are memorable moments you can have in your daily life. You may even consider bringing the family along so everyone can see the beauty Steamboat Springs has to offer from the perspective of the saddle.

Visiting Local Artists

Steamboat Springs has a rich history. Reflective of that culture, there are a multitude of art galleries showcasing the talent of local artists: potters, painters, musicians, and more. In July, West Lincoln Park comes alive with its annual Art in the Park event, showcasing more than 140 different arts, crafts, and culinary vendors. There is live entertainment as well as an interactive kids’ area. This would be a great place to bring the grandkids where there’s something to do for everyone, especially when the weather is warm.

Summer Concerts & Festivals

Other community events include music festivals, which bring casual listeners and bluegrass enthusiasts from across the state. The Winter Wonder Grass festival showcases more than 25 different bands that play Friday through Sunday each year in July. In the past, Casey’s Pond has hosted the Strings Music Festival so residents could enjoy music from the comfort of their home. Whether you enjoy country music, classical favorites, or local bluegrass, you will surely find a beat to tap your toes to.

Exploring Around Town

Beyond the physical, intellectual, and community events, Steamboat Springs also offers plenty of opportunities for socializing with a variety of nature walks, restaurants, and bars. You can take scenic walks along one of the many paved paths surrounding the area or spend a cozy night relaxing around the firepit reminiscing, sharing stories and fond memories. Have dinner together with family or new friends in one of our many restaurants, or for a more casual meal try the bistro, or enjoy eating on the patio enjoying the captivating stone fireplace.
