Staying connected to your community is a key element of active longevity. Providing a helping hand, giving back, feeling needed, social interaction; all of these things are basic to human life.
Volunteers are highly respected members of any community providing beneficial duties that may be otherwise overlooked. Things like environmental beautification, reading to children, serving food to less fortunate people, the list goes on and on. While the personal rewards of volunteerism are great, we find one reward to be tremendous – research shows that volunteers live longer, and have better health!
According to study by U.S. News & World Report, volunteers over the age of 65 live 50% longer than those who do not volunteer. In addition, a study done by Johns Hopkins University found that seniors who volunteer have higher brain function, less illness and even travel more.
At Casey’s Pond, we believe in reaching out to those in need. We’re here to help and welcome those who are interested in participating in our community as well. Volunteerism is paramount in most communities and we certainly subscribe to improved health and wellness through giving back.
If you are a member of an organization that needs volunteers or if you are interested in volunteering at our community, please reach out to us.
